General Membership Meeting Minutes

 3/9/2023 


Call to order by President Deb Sullivan 3:31 


Treasurer’s report


Chicken Dinner: Maggie reports the chicken dinner was a success and she thanks all the volunteers. Approximately $2248 profit 


End of Year Social: Joan still needs help for the March 15 party. Connie, MaryBeth and Leitha will be coordinators for next year’s social. 


Gabfest: Bonnie thanks everyone for their help. Spots are full for the rest of the season. Historically we make $2200-2400 from Gabfest. 


Raffle: Karen Sanchez says to date we have collected $1499 from raffle tickets and $175 from auction. 


Education: all classes are done. No report 


Kiln: Landis asks that we finish fused items ASAP Lockers- Still a few 1/2 lockers left. You can leave your supplies in the lockers over the summer. 


Monitors: Let Sue know if you would like to be trained to be a monitor. We are hoping to have more hours for members next year, perhaps some evening hours. 


Website: Landis says we need pictures of open house, raffle and party. We hope to have a link from VO main page to the GA site. We plan to have classes listed with dates as soon as they are known. 


Display: if you want your pieces displayed in the Bistro, let Bonnie McDonald know. 


Social Board liaison: Diane. Send her club pictures of activities for the social board end of the year presentation on March 21. Please send by March 14. Vote for social board by March 14 in activity office. 


Nominating committee: the position of VP is still open. Please consider volunteering to serve your club. 


Old Business: 

Bylaws were updated and copies were distributed. A motion was made by Bonnie H. to accept bylaws as amended. Seconded by Lynn Overman. Motion passed by voice vote. 

Saw- you must be trained to use the saw. Please don’t push the blades and go slow. 

Copier- Enlarge or reduce patterns only. Please copy your patterns on the light table. 

Locker discussion: only one locker per person is allowed on the back wall lockers. 

Grinder review- Bonnie H. reviewed grinder usage. Remember to take the Allen wrench out of the drawer before tipping the grinder to dump the water.

Margaret Harrington says to stop making stones until they figure out what is happening with the cement. 

Presidents report: Deb- We will close at noon on March 20 to clean and reorganize the club. We will take inventory of all our equipment $500 or less. We will look into having night hours and afternoon or evening classes next year. 


Election of officers for 2023-2024: all positions were unopposed. All candidates were elected by unanimous voice vote.

New Business: 

Bill and Sue Parries will not be back next year and wanted to thank everyone for their help and friendship.
